Spring Break - March 10-19, 2017
If you are looking for an unforgettable Spring Break trip filled with history, culture, great
food, colonial architecture, beautiful and natural wonder, then this trip is your ticket.
The Legal Studies Department at Clermont College will be offering a study abroad trip to
Querétaro, México from June 10-19, 2017. The program will consist of 10-days of travel to
several colonial cities, including, Guanajato, Dolores Hidalgo, Querétaro, San Miguel de Allende,
Pena de Bernal, and Tequisquiapan. You will study Spanish in groups of 2-4 students (at your skill
level -beginner to fluent), meet with practicing attorneys, visit some of the local courts and
government offices and live with a middle class Mexican family. The past two trips filled early
so if you are interested, get you application in early.
Tell me more? Immerse yourself in the Spanish language and Mexican culture on this 10-day trip to
Queretaro, Mexico. Queretaro is the capital of the state of Queretaro, in central Mexico, and is
located 2 ½ hours north of Mexico City. Known for its pleasant climate, Queretaro has impressive
scenery, architecture and haciendas, remarkable museums and a lively social scene.
But I don't speak Spanish! You do not need to be able to speak Spanish in order to join in this
experience. You will attend a Spanish class appropriate for your speaking abilities while on the trip.
But how much is the trip? To offer this experience to as many students as possible, the cost has
been limited to an estimated cost of $2,200.00 which includes airfare, hotel, homestay in Quéretaro,
classes, tours, and food. This is an incredible price for an eleven day cultural trip to Mexico! Stay Tune
I may be announcing a Scholarships from International Programs that would dramatically lower the cost.
But I've never been out of the country before! For students hesitant to travel abroad, the
International Perspectives class will prepare them for international travel and provide them with the
necessary background to appreciate and learn from sites to be visited, as well as from the international
travel experience itself. Student preparation will include such topics as cultural/political sensitivity,
orientation to features of the foreign culture(s) to be visited, and orientation to the historical, political,
literary, artistic, and/or environmental highlights of the trip. Parents of younger students are
encouraged to attend one of the information session. Contact Jeff Rubel for dates.
What will I learn? You will take classes in a Spanish language and stay with a Mexican family. You
will learn vocabulary related to travel, daily life and social situations. You will also learn about Mexican
geography, artists, history and religion. You will also take excursions to museums, nearby cities and
archeological sites.
Will I get credit? Yes, 3 hours credit for an elective in the Paralegal Program or as a “Diversity &
Culture” or “Social Science” credit in other programs.
What do I get for $2,200? Airfare (Cincinnati, Dayton, or Columbus to Mexico), all program fees in
Queretaro, including Spanish classes, 2 nights hotel in Guanajuato, 8 days in Queretaro to include room
and board with a Mexican family (3 meals/day, double room occupancy), airport transfers, day trips, & all
excursions to historical, tourist sites, and your class materials.
What’s not included? Your passport, spending money, an activities you take on your own, partial food
for 2 days while we are in Guanajuato (breakfast is included), vaccinations or immunizations.
How do I apply? Don’t wait! The program is limited to 15 participants and that last two trips filled.

the Heartland of Mexico: Queretaro, Qro and complete your application.
How are students selected?

early and are from the University of Cincinnati you have a high probability of getting selected. So get
your application in early if you want to assure availability. Enrollment is limited to 15 students.
Are scholarships available for the trip?
Yes! I am waiting for final word now on a block scholarship for all students on the trip. On the last two
trips, 100% of the students received International Programs scholarship money.
